An omnipresent musician on the national jazz scene, Alberto Arteta began his Jazz studies at the Pablo Sarasate Conservatory of Music, where he completed his higher studies with Honors and the End of Degree Award for the best student in his class. He later resided in Amsterdam, where he studied “Saxophone Jazz Bachelor” at the Conservatorium Van Amsterdam, receiving lessons from Dick Oatts, Gerald Clayton, Ferdinand Povel, Dave Douglas, Gary Foster, and Don Menza, among many others, and earning recognition as the best instrumentalist of his class.
He has recorded more than thirty albums as a leader and sideman, including his three works as a leader: Behar Bizia (2019), The Legacy (2016), and Bat (2014), as well as his two projects with the collaborative group “MoveQuartet”: Momentum (2024) and Move (2022).
With more than fifteen years on the scene and hundreds of concerts behind him, he has performed at the best jazz festivals and clubs on the national stage. He has also carried out numerous collaborations as a soloist with various Big Bands and symphony orchestras, such as the Navarra Symphony Orchestra (OSN) and the Bilbao Symphony Orchestra (BOS).
He currently balances his work as a professor at the Higher School of Music of the Basque Country, MUSIKENE, with numerous musical collaborations, while simultaneously co-leading his project “MOVE.”

MOVE, a quartet with a consolidated career, stands as a musical force that has accumulated a rich experience through years of dedication and joint exploration. Their new project, "Momentum," not only encapsulates this journey but also represents a force brewed from its roots—an unstoppable impulse projecting into the future with renewed ideas and a constantly evolving musical proposal. In perfect symbiosis, Borja Barrueta, Alberto Arteta, Javier Callén, and Iñigo Ruiz de Gordejuela take flight toward the avant-garde of contemporary popular music, with deep roots in jazz, classical, and folk traditions.
